Today, as our senior population explodes both in number and in potential, we feel the increasing importance of providing senior-focused services in areas of self-dvelopment and social involvement. Our society - locally and worldwide - depends on the invaluable ongoing contributions of all of us. We want our seniors to share with us the benefits of perspective and of experience in caring and contributing to our communities. The benefits are as vital now as ever, and Age & Opportunity exists to help realize these contributions in fulfilling ways.

Wide Range of Services

With your involvement, we achieve our mission through programs and services offered at our five Senior Centres around Winnipeg - you will probably find more opportunities and services for you than you initially expect. For instance, some of our members and users may take advantage of either or both of our social programs, and our educational and recreational programs.

Our options include, Crafts, Painting/Drawing, Music, and Dance lessons; Journal/Creative Writing instruction; Fitness and Health groups, Recreational programs; Computer training, and social events. This is only the tip of the iceberg.

Some older adults take advantage of our counselling, legal and practical advice, or skills training. We provide Elder Abuse services, and English for Seniors Program, Legal and Financial education services, Older Victim services of victims of crime, the Winnipeg Seniors' Housing Directory, and more.

Further, many people who use our services go on to find rewarding volunteer opportunities to help us provide programs and services to still more seniors. Your involvement with A&O is limited only by your energy and imagination!

Most of our programs are offered at our Senior Centres, and these programs are listed in detail under registration . Other services are offered in the community, and listed under the Services for Seniors section.

You can play a part!

Age & Opportunity is a member-based agency; membership applies to all A&O Senior Centre locations. As a member you'll pay half the regular price for classes and events, and you'll always be informed about upcoming programs and special events! Our members are clients and supporters of A&O, becoming a community in serving and learning about each other.
